Can I get help with the identity of my knife?

I've posted this question in the AAPK "Knife Related Q&A" and have yet to get a response. Thought maybe I should try it here.

Can anyone provide information about this knife? What is it and/or the approximate age?

It belonged to my wife's grandfather and he passed away in the early 1950's. The knife was carried, used and is not in real good shape. I have made a little effort to clean it up some.

The only tang markings currently visible are U.S.A. and what I guess is the pattern number of 132433.

I am not expert enough to till you who've made that, maybe someone here is.
The third picture down that shows the USA on the tank stamp, looks to me like there was a brand name above it that has worn off. Could just be a trick of the picture, but if I had the knife in my hand, I would look at that under very strong magnification and see if I could see something there.

Looks like a Robeson...bone handle cattle knife pattern....circa post WWI up to 1945.

i believe knifeaholic is correct. 433 would be the correct handle die number. the first three #s are handle material, number of blades and liner and bolster material. however the 1 indicates ebony or smooth black comp. bone wouldbe a 6, or 632433 rather than 132433. could have been re-handled or a factory error. i think i can barely make out suredge on on tang that dale observed. c.1900-1940

jonet and KA! Nice detective work guys! I hope the day comes when I can look at a knife and know so much about it. I guess it's a continuous process, never-ending!

Thanks all, orvet, knifeaholic, jonet143, & upnorth, for your input. I suspected the knife to be a Robeson, but the numbers just didn't fit. I'm trying to document other older knives that I have accumulated from relatives, they are not worth much. Just sentimental stuff. I'll continue to post here as I get time.
