case mother pearl
i picked this knife up today and was wondering if it is real mother of pearl.the only thing i figure is its made in the 60's the tang stamp number is 079.i cant find anything about it.can someone help.

It is a USA (1965-1969) MOP 82079-1/2 . This is the number that you will need to look up to find your knife . I have no explanation as to why they stamped them 079 only . Parker's #9 Traders Guide values it at $100 , but I normally sell these (USA thru 1970's) for $65 - $75 .crashcar wrote:why is it i cant find anything about the numbers on the knife?

Bob of course is correct. I have always heard that on some of the smaller knives only the pattern number was stamped on the blade. The 8 indicates pearl and the 2 the number of blades. Looks like a nice knife, not unusual at all to be just stamped with the pattern number.
Definitely real pearl as you by this time already know.
