Looking to Buy Herbertz Pocket Knife

Post by Nicole325 »

Hi. I'm completely naive to pocket knives. I'm buying one for a birthday gift. It will be used as a pocket knive not as a collectable. I've looked around and I'm really intrested in the Herbertz brand from Germany. Does anyone know anything about the company? Everything I've read says they are really good. Also their site is in German so it's making ordering a little difficult. Does anyone know of a company online that might carry them? Or has anyone ordered from the German website where they could relay the process to me? Sorry if this isn't the right type of question for the site but reading through the posts this seems like the most knowledgeable of sites I've seen on the web.
Thank you all for you time and any help will be greatly apperciated.
Thanx again,
Nicole325

Welcome to AAPK. ::welcome::

I did a quick search and found that World Knives carries some of them. http://www.worldknives.com/manufacturer.asp?manuid=30
I don't know anything about Herbertz, but another member who does should be along soon to answer your question.

I own one Herbertz knife, a fixed blade, and I have seen others, no folders though.

Mine is a fine knife, well made, not expensive, simple sheath, not what I would call premium steel but good working stainless (for those who know feels like 440A or similar).

Picture shows my Herbertz.

I to only have one and it is Herbertz Micarta Bamboo Liner Lock Knife - Nr. 266911

I fell she is well build for most any every day use.
The blade is 440c stainless steel. I think that’s good for what I paid for her.
I bought mine on E-Bay. So I did not have to deal with exchanging money and waiting for the sail man. I paid $35.95 for her.

Is this for your young man in you life or your father?
When I take her out of my pocket people always want to look at her.
If he ever goes to a Black Tie event have him take this with him.
You will see what I mean by people want to see it.

You won't fell bad giving this one away. 8)

O Yes welcome to AAPK..... ::nod:: ::nod::

Thank you all for your help and info. The knife is for my boyfriend who is of german descent. My thought was, since he likes all things german and was recently looking for a pocket knife, that a Herbertz knife would be the perfect fit. I actually wrote the company from their website
http://www.herbertz-messerclub.de/ asking them about an English website, since I don't speak German. They actually wrote me back and in English no less. The only problem is they weren't sure if they could ship it to me. So I'm waiting to hear back from them. I appreciate knowing that other members own this brand and are satisfied with the quaility. I've been checking on ebay too and found a couple of Herbertz's. Talk about underestimating just how much about pocket knives there is on the web. It has been most imformative.
Again thank you all for you responses and knowledge.
I'll keep checking in.

That rifle knife is about $30 US, I have no idea where it's made.

Probably more expensive but my choice for a German knife would be Boker, just check to get one made in Germany since they also make elsewhere.

There should be plenty of places that sell Boker in the USA, so you can shop around.
