Camillus US Pocket Knife, Utility

Good morning, all. I'm new to the site, but have already seen a lot of go info and pictures. I need help finding a spring for a 1972 Camillus pocket knife, utility, that I brought home from Navy in 1973. It's the metal sided 'scout style' knife, and has 1972 stamped on the tang. I wangled my way into several of these(amazing how many Non-knife guys there are!), but this is the only one I have left, after sharing the bounty. The spring for the main blade & awl broke last week, and I need a replacement. I rarely use it anymore except fot the awl, as it's the best on several different knives.
If anyone can help me with this, I'll sure be thankful! This is a great little knife, and I hate to have to throw it in the non-user drawer.
I've looked through here a little and really appreciate some of the knives I see. Just on a side note, I had a Camillus rigging knife, with a Marlin spike that I wasnt' allowed to carry on a flight home in 1972, even before we knew what terrorists were. I think the guy checking my carry on just saw a good knife and wanted it!ha. I hope he got good service from it, as I'd never gotten to even cut a line with it.

Don't have a spring for you, but I will say that this is a most common problem with those knives. Open two blades on one spring and SNAP!!

Yeah, that's what happened. I've done it many times, but this one broke the spring. I just hope I can find a replacement. It is the best awl on any pocket knife. I'd poked literally hundreds of holes with it, and really hate to have to retire it. Looks like I may have to.

I suppose you could always pick up another one on ebay or some other auction site and use the spring from that one. You might be able to find one with a blade that some fool took a grinder to or some other similar wear/abuse issues that no one wants to bid on and get it fairly cheap.

I looked on ebay, and the ones they have are more than I can afford. It's about time to retire it anyway. Been a good knife, but I have a drawer full of pocket knives that need a little attention, too. ha I'll keep m eyes open at fleat markets and places like that. Might find what I need!
