what a shame.....

If you do not want Case to move offshore please do not take the stance of "Im never buying another Case". You should go to your local Case dealer and buy a USA made knife. Do not do not do not buy the China junk. It sounds like Case is hurting bad. If people pull out on them like I think they will it will be unstoppable.

Actually if things progess over seas the prices should skyrocket as Schrade did post 2004.

I agree a Kershaw Rainbow Leek stamped Case would be great. Made in USA for $30.

This makes me sick to my stomache.

Yes we will see an all china Case company, we will see them for what they really are. This is not about American knives anymore, this is about the almighty dollar. I don't want to hear how these knives are so high tec that an American company can't produce them, I mean are you kidding me? ::dang:: This company has failed in keeping a tradition alive, there will be no more Case knife collecting for me, if I want to spend money and support my country I'll go buy a GEC, heck Queen and Canal street are still making a go at it. ::smirk::

Case comes out with a news letter explaining that they have a "new" and "exciting" knife for the younger generation, then when they hear from their true collectors they sing another tune. "It's a different brand from WR Case, they have nothing to do with traditional knives made in Bradford Pa", well they don't and now, neither do I. I won't waste my money on a failed company. :x

It comes down to the fact that I cared more about "Made in the USA", then they did. ::td::

Well said Caleb! It is a shame, but its true!

Our politicians have forgotten the Constitution they swore to uphold.
They only care about their reelection and personal wealth.

Our elected officials have forgotten honor and duty.
Their loyalties are to their party and their own self-interest.

People in our society have forgotten the values of God, country and family.
They only care about personal pleasure and comfort.

Unions have forgotten about caring for their workers.
They only care about increasing their political power.

I guess it is no wonder that businesses have forgotten pride in workmanship, loyalty to their employees and providing the best product they could make to their customers.
They only care about their bottom line.

Our people, our country, indeed the world is a poorer place because of it.

I think this will only drive up prices on pre-2012 USA made Case knives. I'm definitely not buying any of the Tec X knives and will probably seek Case knives made before next year because once they open the China shop it puts doubt in the consumer's mind about the so called "USA made" future knives, in my opinion. I saw this line in their recent e-letter and thought they looked too much like cheaper China knives that have flooded the market. But I didn't realize they are made in China. It's a sad day for sure in the world of knife collecting. :(

Heres my take on this.. Until I have proof positive that any of the knives made in Bradford have any China parts or pieces I will continue to support them.. This.. I aint buying any more Case knives mentality is no good for Case and its employees and a lot of jobs down the line.. Yea, I am disappointed in Case but there are living, breathing US citizens putting these knives together.. Close down Case and they have no job.. No job means they aint buying nothing down the line.. So who does it really hurt?? Lots and lots of US citizens.. Dont buy the China knive but please continue to support Case because the job you save might be mine!! I am done with this as I have said my piece.. Thank you and all have a great day!!! John ::tu::

jmh and others, its gonna be a hard thing to ever prove when case does go to china made parts on there products as they make very little in house now, they could be described as a cottage industry up here with many little companies making all parts of knives and case just assembleing them if u dont believe me ck out this web site from a small local companie who also builds from start to finnish the light hunter series www.stuartny.com and just look at some of the pieces they make,i know of several others.case basically just puts them together know from an assortment of outsourced parts the company is in my town about 20 minutes from bradford

It seems that most Case cutomers feel they have been lied to or at least decieved.

The first time they decieve you, shame on them.
The second time you are decieved, shame on YOU!!

I for one will not be in the latter position, as I have made the personal decision to let
Case walk away from me. I will keep my Toothpicks for now and 3 other Case knives. The
rest have been sold and there are two left to list.

I hope that each person who feels affected by Cases decision to produce in China is able
to minimize any negative effect this may have on thier collection/collecting. The fact
that I am a new knifer has made this pretty easy for me to deal with, I can only imagine
what some of you long time Case collectors must be feeling.

J2S said it best so far maybe......."It comes down to the fact that I cared more about "Made
in the USA", then they did."

Some of the regulars from the Case collectors forum are standing fast against the companies move but you can already see that the rest have drank the cool aid. They are already finding ways to buy the China Case TEC X line for their children who will have to put them in Poppy's drawer. There is a bunch of pick- picky back and forth going on there. I beleive they have all missed the point. Comunist China is making the new line. Plus they are attacking our central defense programs. The next step will be a little cover up. China won't be able to control itself fom offering parts for the bradford lines at a reduced price. The board will have no chouce but to listen. I think they could have found an friendly country to make them. That's if you believe that "No" domestic maker could do it. Put your boots on it's going to get deep around Bradford. If I had put these thoughts in the CCC forum I would have been attacked by some of the mid level members looking for validation of their collections or they simply want to pucker up and close their eyes. I's a shame to see a group that numbers in the dozens take on everybody acting like the 20,000 members really care what is going on.I havew been a member there for 6 years but I have only posted a couple times. Everytime I try I get messed with by the Klick. They have taken it over. It;s funny to watch them work behind their many years of service. I can count on one hand the number of people in the CCC that welcome new people and try to help. The rest are there to poke at you with a stick. They will call this bashing by the MIDDLE SCHOOL OTHERWISE KNOWN AS aapk. Article 11 here we come. Another Case for America

A Reply to Case President Tom Arrowsmith.
copied from the CCC forum

It is a very sad time in the knife collecting community. A old respected company is in the process of betrayed its constituents and it's country. In a few weeks I will be 81 years old. I have collected CASE knives since my early twenties and have over 700 CASE knives I have accumulated over those years. I have heard Tom Arrowsmith and other Case executive and representatives promise many times that "Case knives were made in the USA and would always be made in the USA. Case would never outsource the production of Case knives to China or any other country". They have evidently said this even while negotiating with China over the past two or three years. Was it a lie? In my opinion YES it was and they knew it was. In my early years I spent five years in the service during the "Korean Conflict". We were fighting Communism. Korean Communist and Chineese Communist. I have many friends who came home with missing body parts and many who will never come home again. Now CASE is asking me to support these same Communist who are still in my opinion a enemy of the USA. I am sorry but I can not do that.

Mr Arrowsmith says that this is a new line and is not a Case knife.
Mr Arrowsmith, in my opinion:
1. Case has specified the specs for these knives ---- it is a Case knife.
2. Case has ordered these knives produces ---- it is a Case knife.
3. Case will provide the dealers and advertisement and sell these knives ---- it is a Case knife.
4. Will the name Case ever appear in advertising these knives --- it already has so it is already associated with Case.
5. Will the name Case appear on the boxes for these knives? I assume it will since Case is the company selling them. No new company was established.

I can no longer proudly say that I collect Case knives because they are made in the USA by USA laborers. I can no longer say that if you want a excellent knife buy Case because they are made in the USA by USA workers who take pride in their work. Yes Mr Arrowsmith I know you have said that this is true and that Case knives are still made in the USA. You also told me " Case would never outsource the production of Case knives to China or any other country". How can I believe what you say now? I have no guarantee that any part of a Case knife is not made in Communist China (a enemy of the USA) by forced child labor. I took your word once and now find out that your statement was not true. I am sorry but it will take more than that now to convince me that the knives I once proudly collected are still made in the USA. I do not endorse Communism and will not knowingly buy ANY product from any company that does.
Have A Good Day

Earl,

I do feel your anguish, I too have many Case knives. My last I bought were 2 years ago when I bought new Case knives handled in Mammoth tooth Ivory. Of (6) , 2 are OK but still not what I would call excellent quality. The other (4) the blades do not even close on their own. Funny thing is I've kept these as a testament not to buy Case ever again. No need to send back to Case. With Four out six being extremely sub standard my mind was made up never to buy a Case knife again. It appears to have been a good decision. I'm lucky! Anytime one says to me that Case is the best, I will say yes...... Many years ago they did make quite a knife. I have many vintage knives I will never part with. If they disagree, thats OK, but I can show unused brand new knives I have that are junk. How in the world did they expect to charge the premium they have on knives like this Retail $200.00 Plus that are substandard? Sometime early 80's all things changed, IMO never recovered. Since them its been all about Bubble Gum scales along with every limited edition under the universe.

And then, The Vault. What a joke!!!!!! Knives go in for three years so they can pump out others. OH, and at that time, the limited editions becuase they are going in the vault ::mdm:: Once they come out of the vault, there is another limited edition annoucing their re-appearance ::sot:: A massive ploy...

OK, I'm done. For all the Case diehards, I'm really sorry, I say this not to upset anyone but to speak my mind. It will not be long and Case may be making all their knives there. Most will have to wait and see. NOT ME.

This statement is off case web site Support:FAQ'S

Are all Case knives made in the United States?

Yes. Case Cutlery remains committed to handcrafting each and every knife in the United States. The majority of our knives are made in Bradford, PA, where Case has been manufacturing cutlery for over a century.

When will they change statements like these?

Well , here we go.I hate to be negative here ,but...I think its obvious were seeing the big giant going down . It aint our fault either .I think its the collectors that make or break these knife companies. Not the guy buying a china made knife at a flea market. But it looks like they think thats where the money is at.I say fire the hell out of the bean counter and ceo get there head out of there ass. It dont take a genius to look at these forums .which are free to join and see that us collectors want QUALITY. the guy that buys a china knife just buys that one knife to cut his fishin line or clean his fingernails.Or maybe he cant afford a Case I understand that. But your gonna piss off all these collectors to sell a 10 dollar knife. Really ? Just check out the GEC section here. These collectors are buying the crap out of some knives. not cheep knives. And cant wait for the next one to come out. Thats where the money is at.but the owners of big corp are out of touch with the people.Like the government. So why should we kiss there but and help them. like someone said earlier, they betrayed us. so we take our business to a company that has principals like us and support them. the employees will survive. If my company put out a sub par product nobody would keep buying it to keep me employed.Anyway ,Im not loyal to a name brand, Im loyal to quality and honesty. So if the corporation that owns the trademarks of the once great American co known as WR CASE and son are just out for a quick buck ,send more American jobs to china and turn there back on us ...I say Let'em Burn.

Caleb, I was gonna put that in my post but felt I was getting a little long winded. This is a subject you could just rant about. Any who , Its too bad you cant change your user name here. I tryed to do it a while back because after I joined I realized there is a "justin case " member. But that is why I chose that name because I was just in to Case knives. I can see where you are going with this...''Just GEC'' as a user name. LOL
