is it real? or is it

Post by chetr1200c »

since i do not own a camera. i will use the sellers pics, which aren't that great, not like some of the great photos i see here. but, i bought this knife because i love the easy open and it also looks unused. it also looks to be ivory scales.
take a stab at it, do you think its ivory or not? and is this a schrade or a sharpliegh? very vague on the description.

Nice knife. It appears to be a Schrade (pattern 2424WEO) with Ivory celluloid handles.

It's an uncommon pattern, an EE jack with an easy open feature, that I can only remember being made by Schrade but was probably produced by some other companies. In my experience, all Keen Kutters that incorporate the "S" into the pattern number, as in KS278 are Schrade produced knives from the Shapleigh era.

Shapleigh did not manufacture pocket knives to my knowledge.

i figured it was a schrade made, as per goins, since they etched the main blades that way. is there any way to determine ivory from different imitations?
