REAL LAMB FOOT KNIFE?

What it the story on the Real Lamb Foot knife?
Was it just a traditional style British knife work knife comparable to a Sodbuster type?

I have wondered that myself cattaraugus. I thought it might be the style of blade.
I have seen a few on ebay , but not many.
Mine is well worn too, but they are old knives.
Mine has a tight action.

It has that name because of the shape of the blade and the fact that it was used to trim lambs feet/hooves. They were of course used as general work knives as well. That stag one is unusual. Most were bone.

The lambsfoot is a variation of a sheepsfoot blade.
Many seem to be a cross between a sheepfoot and a Wharncliffe blade.

I think they were used in gardening & pruning a lot.
They are a nice utility pattern.

Do a Yahoo search on ‘lambsfoot knife’ & you will find many available today in the UK (and the US).

Here's another example. I think it is a variation of the sheepsfoot blade with the lambsfoot blade decreasing in height (cutting edge to spine) when moving from tang to tip s-k

Thanks guys,I did see that they were popular as they were still being made.
Wish mine was in better cond cause I'd carry it.
