What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

You may already have this, but if not, does it help? I don't know who put this together but I'll give Orvet the credit.

Here is one I just picked up, The main blade still has the faint etch "BOS'N'S MATE". The big shield/medallion says WALL WALKLAID ROPE.

Ken,
I have one that is carbon steel also. Mine has been used and abused.
The words in your tang stamp and the arrangement are the same as mine, but your stamp appears to be wider than the stamp on mine, and my tang stamp has been struck so deep that the entire stamping is framed in a rectangular recess. Interesting variation. If I had to guess, I would think mine was earlier than yours, but it has no serial numbers either. ::shrug::

Just curious, how were you able to establish yours is carbon steel?

Here is my latest old Schrade.

Schrade Walden #208, an open stock knife. It is 5”, has a stainless clip master blade and a multipurpose secondary blade that is; ruler, scaler, hook disgorger & has a magnetic tip.
Handles are yellow celluloid.

The hole in the mark side, rear bolster is for straightening bent fishhooks.
Made from 1957-1963.

The hook sharpening stone in the handle has been replaced with a shield, but it is a proper nickel silver shield.

832: 3-5/16"; Serpentine pattern; clip, sheepfoot & pen blades; Propwood handle; brass liners, N/S bolsters & shield; 1953-1977; $10.00. This is from Dale's compilation of open stock Schrade info on this very forum (Look up at header for Articles & Research). We know that the 832s received Delrin handles in 1960 or soon after, in a mold that gave it a "barnboard" look. So I would guess your knife to be between 1953 and 1960.

I thought I posted this one somewhere, but I guess it fits here as well.
It needs some work on the blades, but is fairly decent for the price I got it for <$25.
I have to patch a piece in the rear handle too.
But I was happy with it for the price, (though someone should be beat for what they did to the blade)! :x

That is the only thing I can think it would be for Cal.

If it were for a shackle it would have to have been this type, as the hole does not go through the center liner. ::shrug::
