For me, they're an excellent pattern to collect, but a bit bulky for EDC. I don't imagine they're very cheap to build either. Those reasons may be part of the deterent to modern manuf. of the pattern. Too, with the demise of Imperial, Schrade and Camillus, the U.S. is really lacking in quality, middle of the road manuf. who build the traditional patterns. Our choices are narrowed to cheap imports, SAK's or high $ American knives.

I found an interesting scout pattern recently, a Robeson.
I have not seen this tang stamp before.
It looks like it was stamped twice.

Dale, The ROBESON / SHUREDGE / U. S. A. tang stamp dates about 1948 - 1965.

The can opener on the knife denotes late manufacture.

The punch is very strange. Has it been reshaped?

It's possible the knife was made by Camillus for Cutler Federal after they purchased the Robeson name in the mid-60's. It has that look about it.

Now that you mention it I think you are right; I think the punch has been reshaped.
Looking at the end of the punch under a 15 X glass it appears to have some grind marks under the patina of rust that are post-production.
Under a 45 X scope they are very noticeable. There is no doubt in my mind that you are right, the tip of the punch has been reshaped.

Here are some Robeson scout/utilities. The punch, which was patented in 1905, is pretty consistant. The cap-lifter/can-opener blade is unique to Robeson, as well. That blade can be found with a screw-driver tip on it, instead of the sharp tip.

I'm going to post a harness jack that shows the punch much better.

Here you go Bud. It's more valuable as an Ad knife than a maker but you never know. It was ruffed up pretty good by a rookie with a new buffer. It is stamped BROWN over Shoe company over ST. LOUIS. I have Richard D. White's Advertising cutlery book. In it he shows Buster Brown knives and Brown shoe company knives. He also states they were made by many different makers and leaves the investigation of that up to me. It has great old brown bone knife with a can opener that might help tell who made it. Click on the pic it should magnify it.

Greedy, I'd have to pull it out and look at the tang stamp.
It's prior to 1940. Depending on the stamp, could be as early as 1911.

The second one down is marked U.S.A. and is a WWII Army knife.

It irritates me that Kershaw has taken some of their patterns to China.
They built a factory there, so they control the quality (in theory).

I will only buy the US and Japanese made Kershaws if I know where they are made.
If you get their catalog and pricelist, it says on the pricelist where each pattern is made.
That is what I go by, that & the price. If it is a cheaper Kershaw, it is likely made in China. Guess what I discovered with the one or two Chinese Kershaws I ended up with?
They aren’t as well made as the Japanese and US Kershaws and they do not hold an edge as well!

Pretty knife but the body shape looks like it would be a better Pen Knife than what it is.

Looks kind of skinny and long......

I like the more slender lines of that Col. Coon Jr. scout. It looks to me to be more pocket friendly.

I also like the pen blade rather than the leather punch (which I never found all that useful).

Is it made by Queen?

Mike does the tang stamp indicate the country of origin?

Goin's lists three different Enterprise Cutlery Co. stampings.......St. Louis, Austria, and Germany. Interestingly enough, all three show the same date range; c. 1900-1915.

That's a great looking knife. I really like that long pull.
