Watch Out For This Seller With Bulldog Knives

Post by Hukk »

I wrote this seller who has a bunch of knives listed as first generation, most of them are either second or third generation.
http://stores.ebay.com/KY-Knives
He says he is no Bulldog expert, yet he offers no refunds. ::barf::
He has too many errors to list, so if you see one that you like just post it and someone will give you the scoop on it.

For instance this knife has 1986 blades from the first generation but it is a second generation, the color of bone and style of jigging is wrong for a first generation. He has some nice knives, but they are mislabled. Here is that second generation, it's not a first as advertised.

Edit: I see he added a small comment on this item, not sure of the others.

I have bought from this guy before and had no problems.
But he definitely has a lot of errors in his descriptions, doesn't he?..
and with the volume of knives that he sales,he should offer refunds. ::td::

This is the same guy who use to claim that his Owlheads were made in Germany,he has since changed his description to German style....I guess he deserves a little credit for that.IMO,he could be worse...

I have bought from him also, and yes they were mislabeled. ::shrug:: But, I knew what he had, so I got some bargains.

That's a third generation because of the color of bone, jigging and because the bowtie shield has BULLDOG on it. It is likely surgical instrument steel, otherwise it would have 1993 on it. All of his Cattle Kings are 3rd generation. I emailed him about all of those. 100 of those were made and they book at $85.00 in pristene mint condition. Here is a picture of a real First Generation Cattle King. Notice the color of the green bone, style of jigging, and a plain bowtie sheild. Bulldog first appeared on the shields in 1993, in general. There are more wrong listings for this guy than are correct as far as the older Bulldogs go. AND no returns because he accurately describes his knives, BULLS***. Also, compare the nail nick on the sheepsfoot blade--WRONG! ::barf:: Also the serrations on the clip blade (master), also, WRONG! ::barf:: There's 5 quick reasons right there, compare pictures.  I would stay away from this seller if you don't know the knives, or ask here. Thanks for the heads up for all. ::tu:: ::tu::

EDIT: Second Generation would have plain bowtie shield and have 1985 or 1986 English Steel (forgot the year offhand   ) on the spear blade.

It's my understanding that they are all plain with 1985 English Steel first generation blades. According to the books only 36 were made in Stag, Brown Bone, not green, Horn Swirl, Light Tortoise, and 3 diferent Red Sparkle 1 of 1's (likley 1 of 1 first generation) that are listed in Jim Parker's 7th Ed. Book (I'm reading it now).

So, that's a production of 144 knives, maybe a few more RARE Stag 1 of 1's TOTAL, making these very rare. Many have commented to me that they are seeing to many second generation knives based on the number produced. I really don't have an opinion at this time on the second generations. The 1 of 1 Red Sparkles (3) listed in Jim Parker's book are likely first generation as most second generation, not all were switched to Red/Black celluloid.
Also, second generation knives will have third generation jigging with those 1985 blades, dead give away.

   I've already told him, he's heard it a least twice now! He says he doesn't know much about Bulldogs, but he sure has a lot of them listed--NO RETURNS, because all his descriptions are accurate according to his listings. ::barf:: Yeah, RIGHT

Probably like he did this one in small print. http://cgi.ebay.com/Bulldog-Brand-Tobac ... 0095542303

That's just the tip of the iceburg, he has more wrong than right on his so called first generations. ::disgust:: ::barf::
