Got me another stockman.

Hey guys. I just got me a Stockman tonight, and It rocks!! Last one I had was a Buck Cadet, but I lost it at work somewhere a while back, and didn't think too much of it. However, I really missed the stockman pattern. It always screamed "working knife" to me, you know? So I went to Walmart tonight and got me another one, and it is really, really cool. They had no Black handled ones, so I got the wood handled Cadet, and I was impressed with the fit and finish it had. Better then my old Black handled one. I was surprised to be looking through the blades and reading "China" on one. The wood handled ones are made in China? I had no idea. Well, I was a bit disappointed, but then I started looking at the knife again, and dismissed my disappointment. Made in China or not, it is still made in a Buck factory, to Buck standards. It is not some china-junk knife. Like I said, the fit and finish, walk and talk, and blade grinds are better then my old plastic handled, made in the USA Cadet. Who would have figured I would be happy to have a knife made in China. Well, like I said, it is a Buck after all, and a kick butt one at that ( I love that three spring design). Buck stockmans rule!!!

Interesting. I wonder if the Buck my wife got me at Wal Mart for Christmas is a China-made knife. I don't recall seeing that anywhere on the knife.

They must have improved them since I looked at them in Wal-Mart. I wasn't very impressed. The fit & finish was below average and the blades seemed to have grit in the joints. Something I have noticed on other china knives I have looked at.

I think only the slipjoints are made in China. They had a deal on 110s a couple years ago and they were made in the USA. I have not seen any of the lockbacks that are made in china, just the slipjoints.

You're right. My buck is a 112 founder's knife . . . and it's made in the U.S.A. I didn't think it was a China knife (phew!)

It's actually quite a beauty. Reminds me of my childhood buck knives (the ones I broke the tips off of when scraping barnacles off of rocks).

the lockblades and other higher end stuff is american made, they moved the slippies to china
