I'd like to thank everybody that made reccomendations on finding a small fixed blade knife for everyday use. I decided on the A.G.Russel Hunters Scalple. My wife thinks it just might end up under our Christmass tree.

HI ONEDGE;
I DONT THINK YOU WILL FIND A KNIFE APPRECIATOR OR ACCUMULATOR ON THIS SITE WHO WOULD TELL ANYONE WHAT TO BUY.
HOWEVER IF YOU WOULD GIVE SOME PARAMETERS AS TO WHAT ITS FOR, WHAT TYPE OF BLADE, TYPE OF SCALES WITH A COUPLE OF CHOICES LISTED. I AM SURE WITH THIS INFO SOMEONE WOULD BE WILLING TO TRY TO GIVE YOU SOME ADVICE. THERE ARE GOOD FIXED BLADES OUT THERE FOR CONSIDERALY LESS AND FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE CANAL STREET CUTLERY OFFERS A PRETTY NICE DROP POINT BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT _YOU_ WANT!!!

I agree with MOSSDANCER.
We can help you make a choice, but your qualifications are such that VERY few knives will meet them. But there are some. You might even have one made for yourself. ANZA comes to mind.

Please tell us what you will be doing with your knife, and how you might prefer to carry it.

cold steel has a real nice line of very small fixed blades.
the FGX BOOT BLADE II and I are both around 4 inches. they are the nightshade series of cold steel but they are made from grivory which is a fiberglass reinforced plastic as a blade material.

the last two i said use 420 sub zero quenched steel and i havent ever heard any complaints about their steel being too soft so i would go for those.
