Looking for a Fixed Blade

Post by NYRich »

I think that the title say it all.

What I'm looking for is a full-tang tactical/fighting knife for general use. I don't plan on doing any fighting with it unless the zombies invade, but that has more to do with style than substance. ::paranoid::

I can live with 440 steel or something similar. I won't be blazing a trail through the Amazon jungle so edge retention is not a major issue as long as it can be sharpened easily enough.

A blade of 5"-6" is fine and I prefer plain edge to partially serrated but am open to suggestions.

I'd like to keep the price under $50 but something a little more expensive wouldn't be a problem.

I've been considering a Ka-Bar, some of which fall into my price range and I know that the quality will be there.

Any suggestions?

Kind of a tough question to answer.

I think what you desire is a matter of personal choice and all I can say is just look at what's available and then try to find one you like at a store where you can actually hold it in your hand.

I have one that fits your description, but it isn't for sale.

It cost considerably more than $50 when I bought it thirty years ago.

You have some really great suggestions here - Owd, those Martinni do look like ALOT of kife for the $$.
I may be ordering one or two of those myself, thanks for the link Monk.

The Benchmade comes with a very high quality Molle sheath and has Malice clip provided. Great knife.
I used mine on wood, tree bark and skinned half a bear (all in one day).....................and it will still shave.
