In my last post i had questions about different types of stag used in the handles. (genuine stag, stag, red stag and 2nd cut stag) I would sure like to know the difference in the types and why some bring a higher value than others. Personally it is my favorite material, and i know some of the other new knife collectors out there may have the same question.
Thanks
Bill

Re: Questions about stag handle material
Bill,
I'd suggest you begin your education about stag by using the search function here at AAPK to read previous threads on the subject and look at the many pictures posted. Go to the top of the page and click the search button and then go from there.
Next I'd suggest you get to a knife show ASAP and look, and look, and look. There's no substitute for looking at and handling knives in person when it comes to learning the subtle differences that seem to defy written explanation. As you examine more and more knives, you will grow increasingly familiar with what is what.
Hope this helps. It is a learning process that does not happen overnight, but it's a fun education.
