I have one of those NYK timber scribes identical to the one posted.Had one of the IXL Tyne knives a long time ago and a friend wanted it more than I did. Here is a bit of a twist:an ivory handled knife with brass blades and liners.I think it is supposed to be a fruit knife and the hooked blade is for opening envelopes.

A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).
