That's good, she will most likely stateside. I got out just before the first Iraq war started. They had plans to bring me back off inactive reserves, but that eventually got cancelled.

I traveled the midwest and east coast while in, never went overseas. Spent time at the Pentagon and other bases installing com-centers.

I guess we all had our jobs to do!

You're right. Everyone was assigned a job and a place to do it and we had very little choice as to what and where.

Her mom just stopped by for a few and told me she will soon be going to Phoenix for some training and then on to Korea for a year. Not sure what happened to the non-deployment business but it's better than the Middle East.

Korea is certainly better than current deployment. My dad spent time in Korea with the USAF back in the day.

I happened to meet a Marine Master Gunny the other day.
I probably have socks older than him. I know I have hats older than he is.
The Master Gunnies I knew when I was in the Corps had all enlisted before Caesar made PFC!
I just think there is something weird going on in the Corps these days. They must be promoting them much younger.
I know I have not aged THAT much.

I just had to stop typing to go pee (again).
I looked in the mirror. Some half bald, fat, silver haired old fart was in my bathroom mirror.
