prince of darkness ...

i once was crankin' around a corner in my austin sprite...wicked ability to do the twisties...so here i am...O-dark 30...
in the apex of the turn...and the entire dashboard erupts in smoke and flame...
so i launch the sprite into a freshly turned farm field...key off, open the door and roll out into the, well what ever the farmer turned into the dirt...and poof...in a cloud of dust, both the car and i stop...
i get up, nothing broke...hey, car is no longer on fire???? so i go over...yep...no smoke, no flame...????? get back in the car and drive home...
the insulation on the entire wiring harness, under the dash...had shrunk back around a quarter inch...in the arizona heat...so while i was pretending to be johnnie player, the wires had shorted out...smoked everything burnable under the dash...and just went out...

nothing like a lucas system to give ya a thrill...and i wont even go into the stories about my norton...
