I have a question on a Russell heavy duty/butcher type knife. Did Russell ever forge
blades for this type of knife?

Yes, Russell made a full line of butcher, carving and kitchen knives.
Their butcher knives were from 5-14" long.

Here's a pic of mine. Although the etch was rusted over there was still a paper label on handle.

Go to ebay and search for Russell knife and a lot of different knives will come up. Can't say I've seen this specific knife, but certainly similiar ones.
