so, i go to our local swap meet this weekend...it is mostly a jaw session, since the same three people set up each weekend...
i get out of the car, and the entire group of greybeards turns their heads and gawks at me...? wtf? i still have not had a sip of coffee and have issues with that much attention prior to a full cup...
as i walk up to them, one guy hands me a knife..." tell me about this" he says, and what does OVB mean?
...ok...it is a equal end three blade...well, two and a punch...
made by hibbert, spencer and bartlett...jigged bone scale on the tang side...the missing scale on the back replaced with mesquite...both blades plumb worn down to about a 1/4 of original...punch is tipped...
now this old knife is beautiful...honey brown scale, bow tie shield...honest use worn this puppy out...
so i tell him what little i know...and he smiles and says....
" here, it is yours"...
now i only saw this guy once before...an we talked about his old honda coupe.
now i have this beautiful old worn out knife...i will post pics tomorrow.

Re: OVB
thats great, it would be a much better present if it was his personal knife, he would have all the history behind it...still a very nice gesture on his part even if it wasn't his knife from the start...
did you tell him that OVB means our very best?
