What a neat old stone and how great it is that you care enough that it was your granddad's to not let it go in a garage sale. Didn't know him of course but speaking as a grandpa, I think your granddad would be proud you cared enough about him to keep it.

IMBand,
what a great old stone. looks to be over 8". I'm so glad you appreciate it. Is it an earth stone?
That is, not man made. Will you use it? Notice it says to use either water or oil. What has been used on it?
I use water on all my stones.
The Queer Creek name was used alot. Too bad Norton droped it.
Your grandfathers stone! You're a lucky guy.

Thanks alot guys. I think it may be sandstone. I see that some were Ohio
bluestone. Pretty sure its a natural material though. I think
it was used only a couple times and my guess is with water.

It's great when things are passed from generation to generation.

My dad passed on many years ago and I treasure the pocket knife (Hammer "stockman") he carried. I'll be passing it down to my grandson some day along with my own collection.

Oh my, that's really nice. Good pick up.

This little Camillus #41 Senator came in the mail today. Sweet as sugar and still has the factory edge. A couple of drops of oil restored the snap and now the blades work smooth as silk. If it weren't for the foxing on the blades it would be almost like new.

That Cammy is pretty sweet as well! I have a Shell Handled Imperial a lot like it and I like it a lot!

Snap is gone from the main blade but the other one snaps good.
