Tim, that is sweet! You know I love H&R and have never seen that one. PM me if there is any way you would trade for that. I would make it worth your while!

May have to check out a Buck 501. My 50T got the tip broke years ago and just doesn't quite look right as a Wharncliffe....

I slipped the 110 in my pocket this am and, no-way. Just couldn't do it.
Funny, yesterday night when emptying my pockets, I thought, "Man, I barely noticed this thing" as I put the 110 away. This morning, it felt like the brass brick that it is.
The 5OT is back in my pocket. Spent more counter time at a store yesterday considering the Ecolite 112. Feels right, in terms of blade length and handle. Looks better than *any* tactical style knife to my old eyes. But... it's not the same as something with bolsters. Somebody posted pictures of the Ecolite rehandled with bamboo. Maybe that's the ticket...

This must be what you're talking about. Not too bad looking. Do you know where it's made? What the heck is "Paperstone"? Is that Micarta, G10 or some other phenolic impregnated substrate?

I can't say that that knife moves me in any way.
Seems to me a "traditional" lockback has to have bolsters and such!
I could see a Buck 501 or Schrade 50T in my EDC rotation...

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Pinnah, the 110 is not the best knife for office duty in my opinion, but I can see carrying one to get ready for a bigger knife than your already used to.
I'm not sure that the 112 would be the best choice for that either, but it looks good to me.
It's a complicated situation for sure, you can't have what you really want.
I love the freedom of having as many knives as I want, I can keep a good ol' 110 close to hand on the hip, and I don't have to worry when I'm in the middle of a corn field. It doesn't pay the big bucks, but I'll miss this freedom in years to come.
So as long as I can, I'll have a 110 on my hip, and a few others in my pockets.
Good luck

I really prefer the older 110/112 with the squared scales and bolsters that have the 440C as opposed to the newer more chamfered ones with 420HC. And call me what names you will, I like the 112 over the 110.

I was just checking out the Taylor Brand China Shcrades at SMKW.
The best blade in a 5 size is on the Bruin Saw Cut Delrin 5.
When checking out Bucks I liked the look of the 503 the most.

I actually agree.
Here is the Ecolite in (easier to loose in the woods) Green

What I would like, is a knife that weighs the scant 3.4 oz that the Ecolite does and feels as good in the hand as the shaped Ecolite handle but looks like this:

I'm supposed to take my son backpacking this weekend (the Whites were closed last week due to the storm) and really, the 110 is just too much for backpacking. The 5OT would do but would be a mess when dealing with tough chores like spreading peanut butter. You laugh, but that's a real need. I want one and only one knife in the pack. The Opinel #8 will make the cut on the packing list, but increasingly I'm finding the lack of umph in the Opinel to be an issue. I also want a sturdier knife for rough weekend work around the yard type of knife that is still pocketable. Last thing.... I'm not carrying a modern tatical knife. Totally irrational. No judgement meant. So yes, while the plasticy handled Ecolite doesn't move me, I can live with it as an alternative to the real 112 at about 1/2 the weight!!
Or....
In the knife mod sub-forum, Snorkel posted this 110 Ecolite with a bamboo handle!

Ooohhh... A little reshaping for the fingers and doing that for a 112 Ecolite... Now that might move me.

Afta seeing Johny's picture that 112 is such a classy looking knife and I know a tough knife I'll never be at work with out one of the big three heavys ie 112,110 or the lb-7.I am trying to put a sodbuster in rotation but it seems to lite. The 112 ecolite looks very nice going to go to LL Beans and feel one up

Okay, I've been packing this 501 non stop, I really, really, like it. I don't see it getting bumped from the pocket, but I could see adding some new ones.
These two knives have been a perfect duo for me, the slipjoint lover in me is satisfied by the 301, while the locker lover in me enjoys the Squire.

Can't say for certain, but that 301 appears NOT to have the Saber Grind that is the one thing I don't care for in my 303.
I like flat grind the best!
Got my Case Amber Bone CV Canoe and my Remington Delrin Scaled Jack on me just now.
Carbon steel RULES!

Thanks Gino, it's been hard to not enjoy it.
I have so many knives I've been wanting to test for small game season, so I have a feeling this one will get tested as well.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Have the same Remington Jack and Case Canoe.
But today have the large SOG Twitch XL clipped in right front and a Schrade USA SP2 down in right front.
The Big SOG is SWEET! And the Schrade ain't bad after I finally got it sharp.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Well, it's been a while since I changed EDCs, it's been my Buck 301, and 501 non stop. But, I got bored,
so I went the through my EDC's to see which one would do.
So Elk #72 it is.

Man, I get bored quick, I must have knife EDC ADHD.
It's not fun, at this rate I'm gonna have around 40 knives that share a years worth of EDC time, thats no way to bond with a knife. I blame you guys for this, this thread doesn't help either Gino, especially because there are so many great knives.
