Whaler update

Post by Owd Wullie »

As promised, Ryan sent me a GEC #36 for EDC. It has a few minor cosmetic issues and is marked with a "2" on the pen blade. It is a handful of knife and I like it!!

It went to work with me today. I had some time to kill so I took one of Young Johnny Two Shoes photo ideas and used up part of my lunch hour fooling around in 105° heat.
This is my current EDC stuff. I swap out the 23 and the old BUCK 110 every month or so. The little machete rides by my knee in the work truck and gets used for all kinds of silly stuff.

SO in closing, THANKS RYAN and GEC!! ::tu::

It's nice you got that straightened out, Willie. They obviously did the right thing for you.
You got a great looking workhorse. Good for you.

Thought that might be the case, Monk. Thanks. Evidently, GECs burnt grizz varies wildly in color as OW's is nicely burnt/toasted looking but the new 73s in burnt grizz aren't. ::shrug::

If they'd built the Whaler like they do these 36's it would be a HELL of knife.

Either way, I'm happy. ::tu::

So, are you being refunded the cost of the Whaler or are they going to try to fix it? The free-b they sent you is awsome, I really like it. Glad things are working out for you Willie. Should have sent my Conductor back, I guess.

Bob at Old Hundred refunded all of my money and GEC sent me this one for no charge.

Changed my thinking about GEC. They are interested in their reputation and their products.

You ought to get in touch with Ryan and just explain what happened on your deal. I'd bet he'd try to make it right.

Nah, I'm not going to worry about it now. I just wish that GEC would pay more attention to what's actually going out the door. With the low numbers of knives leaving the company, there's no excuse for not inspecting their product. Again I'll say that they should put a little development time into their new releases and avoid ill feelings.

hey i wanted to say that willie got even luckier here...

GEC NERD ALERT!!!...lol...

if this was in fact a GEC EDC knife it would be marked with an S for STORE.

this is in fact marked with a 2{seconds knife} which almopst never make it out of factory because
they are for employees.

GREAT GEC SCORE! ryan is a great bro and i have never heard of
him not handling an issue. ::tu::

GEC and KEN will be at this show as well ...im going! http://paknifeshow.com/

scroll down...this year not only GEC but we have queen and canal st...

as well as custom makers including Ken Steigerwalt! in 2009 i worked this show and shared a table
with RYAN from GEC...it was a blast!....now in 2011 i wonder how crowded the table will be!!!
