Without any other knowledge about that knife, the seller is, of course, infamous for reworking older knives.

My instinct only, says I want no part of the knife, for that reason alone.

I hope that's not cheating Gary...if so I do apologize.

Bill

P. S.
I believe the master blade has been worked. JMO.

In the words of ILIKEKNIVES, Be very picky about the knives you buy,
I know for me at least those words have served me well so far.

Ask as many questions as you want. If he does'nt answer them to your satisfaction I would probabaly pass on it. IMHO.

the knife looks right to me. the pattern had a spey blade. there seems to be a little space around the shield where it was inletted. i have heard a lot of bad about this seller as well. i don't believe every knife he sells is bogus but i would not buy from him.

The spay blades is right on these knives, the bolsters looks to long to me this is suppose to be a ciger whittler. My guess is it is not right. I also don't like the large nail nicks. I like these little test.

Funny thing about old '91 Patterns...I've seen quite a few over the last several years, both Greenbone and Stag. The funny part is that I've never seen one that wasn't mint, they all seem to be in unused condition. That should answer the question ::td:: .

The uneven edge on the bolster suggests buffing, although it might just be the photo.

Blade looks differently worn than tang

Post by A&E »

What catches my eye about this picture is that the blades look worn differently than the tang.

The tang on the main blade looks old and dark, then whammo! the blades look bright and shiny. The pen blade looks the same.

I'm definitely no expert - just noting what catches my eye.

This particular knife is at the center of a heated discussion on another forum I visit.
Theres accusations of blade welding and also being sued for slander.
IMO,its hard to say anything negative without seeing the knife in person and holding it in your hands.Every shadow or discoloration isn't or couldn't be a weld spot! In short I'm saying you can't make a 100% proof positive judgment by just looking at these pics.

I wanted to say this on the other forum, but people who didn't agree with the moderator, were banned,so I thought it best to just leave it alone...I'm really happy to see its not that way here at AAPK!!!

stockman; "This site is well run. " Not sure what you mean by this.
I fell it is the HIGH CLASS of PEOPLE we have here and the willingness
to help others. They are very careing folks that do not want to step on your toes or act like BIG SHOTS. This is why I say to help out here BUY a knife form a store here at AAPK. or on their own sites. What goes around comes around. ::paranoid:: ::nod:: ::nod::

8) I concur with you gentlemen completely! I mentioned this exact same feeling in another post here. We have intelligent and kind people on our forum, which I greatly appreciate. The other knife forum, (You know which one I speak of) Has a very mean spirited and condesending tone all through most of it. I rarely post on it and sometimes just reading the threads makes me feel SAD! :(

Being sued for slander is hard to prove loss of money on a knife.
But it still can be a PAIN in the butt.

Well, I hope I don't get sued too!! Lol. First of all let me just say that there is no way i would buy a high end knife like this without actually holding it in my hands and looking at. It is fun looking at these pictures, but there is just too much that can be missed in a picture. My opinion is that the knife has a couple of issues. There is definitely something out of whack with the master blade IMO. Also if you will notice the near side small blade there seems to be one visable nail nick and the remnant of another. Also like KK said there never seems to be one of these in used condition.... Well, why is it not in the counterfeit forum you may ask???
Well, I believe in the game of baseball the term is "Change Up"

The moderator can't legally ban someone for an opinion that isn't to his liking, that's censorship and he can be sued for infringing on the First Ammendment rights of the people that posted. Likewise, the site owner can't be sued for slander (or libel since it is in writing) because of what someone posted on his website.
The person (poster) making severe and innacurate statements CAN be sued. Many of these decisions were finalized by the US Supreme Court in the Fall or Summer of 2006.
People expressing their personal opinions on a website are also now protected by the First Ammendment as would a professional jornalist or writer. This does not mean you can just go out and flame someone for no reason at all, it has to be fact and/or expressed as an opinion. The laws are much more complex than I just wrote.

Hukk, I understand and agree with you 100%,but that still doesn't change the fact that he banned someone.I guess if he can't do it legally,he did it illegally ,either way he did it.
I'm just glad AAPK isn't like that,in fact I'll probably never visit that forum again. ::td::

I just wanted to add my 2 penny's. This is a great forum for the buyer or collector. Anyone who is less than an honest seller on Ebay probably has or will come to hate the very guts of any individual who would point out his or her dishonesty whether it be in person or in a forum such as this GREAT site here. As to spending that much on a knife (subject knife is sitting at almost $900 as I write  ) that I never had the privelege of holding in my grubby, Scrooge-like paw, I think not!! This site has educated and amused me beyond belief and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who takes the time to add to my pitiful amount of knowledge. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: Thanks a million!! (but don't expect the check anytime soon, I gotta use it to buy more knives!) ::drool::
