Cheap Knives

Post by just bob »

I am also going to post this in the knife repair forum, but thought I would share to others that may be interested. This is one of those cheap leg knives that are well represented on Ebay and at shows. My brother collects these and has hundreds of better knives. This was a knife from his collection that was never used or carried. He only displayed it and cleaned it from time to time. After so little use both back springs are broken. I took this apart and they are .070 thick, but they look to be made of pot metal - like a fingernail file. I am not an expert but they don't look tempered at all. The purpose is only to say that if you buy these - BEWARE. There is a waranty but there is a $7.50 S&H fee with each return. When you count the postage you would incur in sending it back it would be cheaper to buy another - and maybe they know that?

Saw on TV where some drug (Fosamax?)
has been linked to non trauma based leg bone fractures.
Looks like same type of thing happened to your knife.
You may be entitled to compensation.
Meanwhile get your brother a $10 Opinel, they have no sproing.
He can whittle it into any shape laig he wants.
Hope this helps 8)
