Reckon so, has Gladstone Mich USA below the MSA Co.
Not dated like my others but supposedly from that 01-04 era.
Guess shield too small to hold 'Marbles' but plain suits me fine.
Only 2.5 in closed, wonder where they found deer that small.
Open blades make the photos go blurry, hafta retry it Thurs.
Pile side not too shabby either (imho).

Been a good week on the bay for me. I was able to pick up two swell-center stockmans and a jack to add to my collection. The first stockman is stamped Olsen and dates from 1950 to 1970. The other stockman is modern and marked Stanley. The last knife is marked "Central Cutlery Co. Germany". Central Cutlery Co. was a actually located in Elizabeth, NJ but imported some knives from Germany. They were open c. 1925-1926. The handles on this one immediately made it one of my favorites.

I have a steel handled knife just like your Central but is stamped Kamp Cutlery. Also have one just like your Olsen but is stamped Ulster 63. The Ulster is just the same right down to the jigging and oval blank shield.

I figured that all three were contract knives. Thanks to you, tj, I now know Ulster made the Olsen stockman. ::tu:: Any idea on who made my Central and your Kamp?

I really have no idea on the Central or my Kamp but I would guess that both were made in the same plant in Germany and imported. There was another pictured here a while back with the same handles with another different stamp. Camillus also made a pocket knife exactly like your Olsen, your Stanley and my Ulster. Your Olsen even has the match-strike pull like the Camillus, so I'm thinking that Camillus made all three. Camillus referred to the pattern as a Carpenter/Whittler.

J.W. that's a fine looking piece of iron. I don't think your going to be sorry. Made in USA, four inches long closed and genuine Stag scales. A winning combination every time.

BTW Alan, you may already be aware your little Buck 309 is really a 310. The two knives are built on the same frame and apparently Buck is quite famous (infamous? :) ) for sticking blades which are alike into different pattern knives. The difference between the 309 and the 310 is the back spring and the addition of a coping blade in the 310. From what I've read, it's quite common to find a 309 stamped blade in a 310 and those are not the only Buck knives with which it happens. To me it takes nothing away from the knife. It's a sweet little whittler and the wooden box it came in is just icing on the cake. Very nice gift. Could you have your wife whisper in my lady friends ear? ::nod::

Jerry-- LOL about girlfriend. Yeah I knew about the end of production whittlers, that's why she had a friend pick 'em up at Bass Pro on the way over to our house the other day. They had 3 and he got em all! I'm kinda partial to Bucks. I only have about 7, but like them all.

tripleF-- liking that USA Cam. Actually got one on the way myself, a late 80's early 90's lockback.
