Re: Which knife do you want?
Sorry Chet, I should have been more clear. In the sellers pictures there appears to be two different knives.
Check out pictures 3 & 4.

Re: Which knife do you want?
I suspect the patent number refers to the construction of the bolsters. They are shell bolsters and are crimped on the knife. I think one or more are loose and he didn't pay any attention to that when taking his photos.

Re: Which knife do you want?
I stand corrected here guys. Now I see the crimped bolster in the other pictures. I thought I was looking at a solid bolster knife and a solid knife indeed, but saw pictures 3&4 and thought the seller mixed up his pictures.
I'm sorry for the confusion...........there goes another quarter in the cuss jar.

Re: Which knife do you want?
Those knives typically don't bring over 5 or 10 dollars. IF you want one with those patented shell bolsters, they're out there. Just as pretty as that one too and hopefully without the bolsters falling off.
Here's one that has never been sharpened. It's a bit newer than the one you bid on and has different scales.

I'll make you a HELL of deal on that one. If you want it, shoot me a PM.

Re: Which knife do you want?
wullie, i was just going thru some of my knives for cleaning and resorting. i came across about a dozen of those knives you mentioned, imperials, colonials and no named ones, most in mint condition.. most of my collection is listed what a paid or some sort of value price so my kids know what their worth is when i'm gone..i did pay under 10 bucks for each one, heck i bought 3 for 11 bucks even... now i am glad i got overbidded on that one.. it just looked nice to me
