My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

KG, I've bought several SW7s, some to giveaway.
Most came in a bulk pack clear plastic bag.
I have one SW7s blue box like yours.
The Duck Unlimited SW7s (black blade & lockbar) is in a
plain white box. Barcode label indicates imported by
Blunco (Canada)Sales Ltd.

Trail, here's an older Schrade Walden that I thought of when you were talking about huskier and solid and useful smaller knives. This knife is 3 1/8" and fits in the pocket very well and is a very solid knife to reach for.

Recently acquired this 1979 SC506.
The S.C.C. tang stamp caught me by surprise.
Schrades_R_We website's scrimshaw pic seems
to show the 'ra' from regular Schrade tang stamp.

Here is an 8OT RB that I bought off of a hunting website a few weeks ago - smooth delrin handles and no shield, but USA made. I got it NIB with the instruction sheet. I bought it to replace one I lost about five years ago, but this one is bigger and nicer (thinking now that I am reading this website that what I lost was actually a 34OT)

Those bolsters have a different sheen to them.....
I am wondering if those are Sterling bolsters?
It is probably a lighting trick, but they look more like Sterling silver to me than nickel silver.

I don't think anyone HAS TO, but I think there is universal consensus among makers and assemblers of various items with any real silver content, to mark 92.5% silver with the STERLING mark. If it does not have that mark there is little chance that it is sterling silver. It is a selling point, you see, so they always mark it. If the box for this stockman says 8OT RB, the owner might want to double check; it may be red bone handles instead of Delrin plastic. Nice knife!

Calvin is right, and box or not, those are bone handles. I'm certain of it. ::nod::

Wow! The box end is labeled "8OT RB" and on close inspection the handles are a deep red (a little more red at the bolsters, darker in the flat of the handles). Neat to know that I bought a good knife and got an even nicer knife than I thought I had. Appreciate being informed by you guys - thanks.

Ps No sterling mark in the bolsters, just a different polish and type of metal I would guess.
