It should have a straight cutting edge all the way out to the end and a squared off end.
Here is a picture of the knife from the 1946 Camillus catalog showing it as it would have looked new.

Wow, that is a bit of a difference. Still, it looks pretty cool as is.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
I've been watching for a good one of these to go with my "butter knife" profiled one, and ended up with two, in unused condition in the original packaging! Knifeaholic auctioned four of these on ebay, and I was determined to get at least one. When the dust settled, I had two, much to my pleasure. These are pattern S702, which Camillus describes as a Coast Guard Knife in their 1982 catalog. I have also seen them called Life Raft Knives. Whatever you call them, they are unusual and getting harder and harder to find. As far as I know, Camillus was the last manufacturer of this large rope pattern, and I doubt if we will ever see the pattern in mass production again. If it's not obvious, I'm really pumped to have these knives.

Here's the knife I like to find on ebay. I know somebody who enjoyed knives had this one because it has been used and sharpened a lot, but the person cared enough about it to keep it clean and nice. I like honesty, integrity and character, and this knife has it in spades. When I see it in a knife, It reflects on the man who carried it, so here's to the anonymous soul who once carried this knife.

I got a Camco Barlow in the mail today.
It appears to have the factory edge on it.
It will probably end up putting stag on it.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
You are right; Camillus did not use the Swinden system, only Schrade.
However, Camillus made a great many parts for Schrade.
I assume you are referencing the Camillus Rough Cut in my first post in this topic (page 1). I do believe that pattern was introduced long after Schrade was closed. It may well have been the same pattern as the 8OT, made on the same tooling they used to make parts for the 8OT for Schrade. Camillus copied a number of Schrade patterns after Schrade closed, most notably the 152OT; Sharpfinger, a thoroughly Schrade pattern.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Just got this #33 EZ open off eBay. I cleaned her up a little and oiled her, now the blades snap like a mouse trap. She has nice half stops, brass liners, nickel silver bolsters and the blades look full. In fact the pen blade probably still has the factory edge on it. That pen blade is sharp, just ask my finger. I'm going back and forth with myself, trying to decide whether or not to carry it.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Let me see if I can get a decent shot of my Cami's together....
Okay, not the best picture ever but here are a TL-29, a 33 and a 72.
72 was used and sharpened to with an inch of it's life by my Grandpaw.
33 was gifted to me by an AAPK member. MAYBE Wullie...
TL-29 was also gifted but by whom I simply have no guess.

My suggestion is that you carry the knife, most especially if you have never EDCed that pattern before. I think you will be impressed with how useful and compact it is.
You will also be impressed with the steel of the knife as well.
