johnnie that TV trapper is SWEEEET brother,good look'n stag and nice pic buddy ::tu:: ::tu::

here's a beast of a knife for ya johnnie.................lol
Thanks Earl. I think I'd have preferred the look of "full" pearl instead of LG but I think it still looks good. Also, I think the acrylic will be more impact resistant so that's a plus if you use it.

And nice whaler's guys. That's a biggun!!

Is there room for dissent here? (Like that ever stopped me.) I think it needs to be said, for all those out there thinking the same thing but too polite to say so.

I find the Whaler a very unattractive knife. I compare it to a grossly overweight, homely woman. It's waaaay too big, out of proportion and for me, completely useless. I give it two thumbs down. ::td:: ::td::

I think its a very attractive knife....apparently a lot of other People feel the same way...http://blog.tsaknives.com/2011/08/15/co ... award.aspx
...the only problem that I have with the knife is the blade rub issue. :| ....If not for that..I would definitely own one. ::tu::

Jerry, Great post!! ::tu::

I like the duck and cover thing. ::ds:: I kinda like the knife but have to say your comments have merit. The reason I like it is as a collectable only. I wish I had to funds to purchase a vintage swell but they are out of my reach. If anyone here has one with a reasonably full blade in a turn of the century Swell center, could you let us know if the original blade width was close to the Whaler ??? The only reason I would think any knife co. of the day would make a blade this wide would be to truly use this guy day in day out. Even with the poorest of sharpening methods it would take a long time to wear out..? ::nod::

All in all, very interesting knife Good,Bad, or indifferent ::handshake::

The thing that most appeals to me about the Whaler is the pattern was taken from and early rope knife made by C Platts back in the late 1800's.......love the old patterns.......not an EDC by any means.
Unless your a grossly overweight homely woman :lol: :lol: :lol:

In regards to blade rub that has been mentioned,only 1 of these has it as you can see on the back side of the lower CocoB
