TJ,
As I'm laughing out loud, I do have afew more and I will do that.... Seriously A low ball offer will not hurt my feelings. I only wish we all could be as sly and patient as you.
I actually got this one for less than my max bid. I've been buying on Ebay since 1999 and in those years I've found that if you find something you like but it sells for more than you're willing to pay, just hang around for a while and one just like it, or a better one, will come up and you will get it, may take a couple waits, but you'll get it for what you want to pay. I have a mind-set of what I'm willing to pay for something, including shipping, and I stick to it. There's hardly anything out there on Ebay that is a one-of-a-kind and won't come around again.

Ouch I'm a poor bidder and impatient as well. Keep up the good work its definately something I strive for. In fact I have purchased several knives on the Bay for much less than I bid. This tells me I've got a lot to learn..
I won't say that I've never over-paid for a knife, the 4-line Camillus Standard Scout is a good example, paid $60 for it plus shipping, but if I REALLY want something I'll do that. Always liked that shield, I think it's cool. Didn't have one and now I do. That's the thing about collectables, they're only worth what someone's willing to pay for it. Is the 4-line Camillus Standard Scout now worth $60, don't know, doubt it.

Tom,
I don't know the value of that knife either, but I don't blame you for buying it at that price.
It's so clean and looks unused. And I agree, that is a neat shield. And the four line Camillus is a real plus.
Thanks Joe. I don't beleive the knife has ever been used. It certainly hasn't been cleaned. I think that the 4-line stamp is 1941-46 so the worst case is that it is my birth year knife.
