The only cleaning I would do on that gem is to carefully remove any loose rust with a soft cloth and some mineral oil;clean the inside with some toothpicks and store it away.It doesn't look like a stone has ever touched that blade. It will be interesting to see the final price on it($275 and 5 days to go!)

I believe there is already a thread on Waterville knives in the Knife Lore forum. Here are the only two I own.
The first is a picture of a before and after shot of a Waterville jack with an unusual shield. The pile side scale was missing and was replaced with a newer ebony one and the blades polished.Doesn't enhance the value as there is a ton of blade wear but it makes a nice occasional EDC.
The second one is a miniature with nickel silver scales.

knife7knut, that is a great looking Waterville. Very nice shield.
It sure looks nice all cleaned up and you sweetened up that secondary. Good job. I'll bet it's a great carry.

Here's mine, nice covered backspring in tortoise. It's a bit worn but still a neat one.

OK so I bought the Waterville and let me tell you it is one great knife. Some marks on the blade but the etch is really clear. This one goes on display with the other English Jacks I have. Paid alot but well worth the money in my book!!

I will post the knife in the thread on Waterville in Knife Lore also.
