I don't read kanji, but my fall-back source for translations start here: http://home.comcast.net/~bladeshark/ some of the references there might get you started. If that doesn't work, poke around at http://www.nihonto.ca. Last resort, you might find a translator at http://www.nihontomessageboard.com/, but I bet those guys get tired of questions. . . .
