Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. The knike had been taken apart and cleaned. The bolsters and bone are original and had been buffed and the blades are new. This was done by a person who works for queen cutlery co.

There are some old parts and tang stamps hanging around Queen, or there was at least a year ago. But Great Eastern has purchased the rights to tidioute, so I understand! Anyone know more??

You have brought up good questions and I don't have answers. I wonder if by NEW BLADES that is what he really meant? The look far to good but this time period has a lot of better condition blades. I would have to see the blades up close to determine. I think the seller has no idea what he is doing with this and isn't trying to cheat anyone. He wouldn't have responed as he did if he was. Just my thoughts.

Hello PA, does the stamp look like it should for this period? To me it appears that the blades have been sharpened, the shape is not right for new blades. His answer raises more questions for me.

this stamping was used during the second Tidioute Cutlery Co. operation. More on this in my book, 1909- 1916. The stamp on the blades in correct but only for master blades. Typically, and I say that loosely, the secondary blade would only have TIDIOUTE on it. As you can see this one has the the complete name as it normally appears on the master blade only. This concerns me right out of the shute. the blades are WAY to clean for me, and being that the seller admits to have them cleaned or replaced really concerns me. I suspect that they are not the real thing. I find a lot of the the knives stamped in the curved manner are not real. I have one that I thought was real but know I am having second thougths. Gosh being that old they should have more patinia on them. So the lesson here is NEVER NEVER NEVER have a knife professionally cleaned if you want a REAL collector to enjoy the knife. If your selling to others, then by all means. At least this seller admits it. All the more reason for us to remain educated as to the process. $100, "I don't think so" $20 now you have my attention. I bet he gets a good dollar for it eventually though. (I wonder sometimes that if I were dishonest, how much I could make off of this brand by offering fakes) I just hate the thoughts of all those counterfiets out there being gathered up by uneducated people thinking they have a RARE find. books will help, but only if someone reads them. OK , I am done for the moment
