Neft Safety Knife
This is not my auction, but its an interesting knife. I've seen several of these with black handles. This is the only red and black handle I've ever seen. http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1920s-NEFT- ... 1c1d28b65f

Re: Neft Safety Knife
I think that a diverse collection of Neft Safety Knives with all the available blades and the different handle materials, would make a fabulous display.
I've never had one in my hand. I've often wondered how stable the blade to handle connection might be after the knife was opened and locked. The way that rectangular tang nestled into the recesses in the bolstered handled looks secure.
For a while, I followed every one that showed up on Ebay. They all sold high.
I copied some photos of a really nice orange and black mottled example once. For some reason, I no longer have a photo of the knife with the blade open.
It appears to be missing an end cover.

Nice one!I have never seen that color handle before either.A friend of mine sent me a mint condition black handle but it has no blade.I wound up making a blade for it and lost the thumb rest in the process.
If anyone has a blade for one of these out there I would be interested in purchasing it.Not fussy if it is the regular blade or scaler back.

I believe that the red handled ones with the serrated back were for fishing. Saw that in another forum but don't remember where!!

I don`t think the color of the handle has anything to do with the serrated blade.galvanic1882 wrote:I believe that the red handled ones with the serrated back were for fishing.
These came with several different blades, that you could pop right into the frame
Here is one that sold online a few years ago.

Nice ones, MB!
It is my understanding that when these were new, one bought the handle and chose one or more blades to go with it.
I have no idea what, if anything, the orange and black mottled handles signified, but they sure were pretty.
Does anyone know if they were Bake-Lite or what?

Re: Neft Safety Knife
Great info and an awesome looking knife. That blade in the first pictures reminds me of a Marbles or Case vintage fish knife.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
