Fondled one of these at the Blade show, but never pulled the trigger. Just got a good deal on this one. Planning on a little camping trip this weekend, and I can't wait to chop down a tree or two with this thing. It is heavy!
Not crazy about the finish, and the sheath sucks wind. Like most owners of this knife I will find a replacement sheath. Just got off the phone with my favorite cobbler and he will make one for me.
The blade is factory sharp, and she's definitely a hand full.
The particulars:
Ontario RD-6
1095 steel
6" blade - 11 3/4" OAL
3/16" blade thickness
canvas micarta handles
price: around $60

That's one big ole chunk of knife. I have the simialar Ontario Rat 5 (from before the departure of ESEE) and it's plenty big enough for me. Hope it serves you well.

I don't see the RD-6 (9416) in the 2010-2011 catalog. Has it been discontinued?

Hey Jerry,
It's still there - in the fine print - lower left hand corner. No pics though.
Oh yeah, mine is not a true RD-6, it's a RBS-6 "Ranger bush series" (model 9444BM I think) I just did some practice cuts with mine - cut down a 3" diameter tree in my brother's yard.
