Camillus Standard Scout
Hey all - I just bought this one and wondered if anyone could place a date on it. Described as never used, never sharpened. Thanx.

Does the can opener date before or after this Morley?

Re: Camillus Standard Scout
Tom,
The can opener design on the second knife you posted a photo is an older design than the one on the Standard Scout. I've got some Boy Scout knives that can be traced back to the 1920s or earlier that had the same design of can opener as the one on the second knife. It was prone to break and eventually was replaced by more substantial designs such as the one on the Standard scout.
By the way that's a fine example of that knife you have.

Gino and Phil, thanks a lot. One more question - do the signal flags take it to military designation?

Thanks Paul. I really dig the Camillus brand. They did make some quality stuff.

We used semaphore flags in Boy Scouts. I think it's something that was popular in the early days of scouting. Nice knife Tom!tjmurphy wrote:Gino and Phil, thanks a lot. One more question - do the signal flags take it to military designation?

John and Mike, thanks a lot. I kind of eager to get it. Always liked that shield. Of course there's still one more day before he can ship. At least he's only 55 miles away.
