I seem to recall that in one of his last posts he said he was moving, so he just may not be set up and unpacked yet. I don't think Otto will stiff ya.

Chet...I just got a pm from him 2 days ago.....I wouldn't worry about your knives..He's a stand up Guy.
He is in the process of moving...so I would say thats the reason for the delay.

Glad to hear things are straightened out. Otto is a good dude! The very first knife I bought when I joined here was from Otto. I paid cash and he sent the knife the same day I agreed to buy it. I would vouch for him any day.

Re: looking for mr otto
i am very apprehensive about posting this response,i think some of you will take this the wrong way, i hope not:
jr i got your email and well recieved, also got an email from a member saying he will refund my money if i dont hear from otto, no need for that, but i do feel i need to get this off my chest,,everyone else, thank you for your imput., i believe otto is an honest man, but my position on this is, when you pay for something one hour after you buy it, and the man is still in the chat room acknowledging the reciept. then he should have the knives ready to go the next morning. everyone has personal problems. i dont even want to get into mine....lady problems and moving are not what i would consider a reason for neglect. he has my money and my address...
i am sorry, but i believe in good business. i have been a private contractor my whole adult life, minus 4 yrs with semper fi. once you start a transaction, barring injury or death, it is only right to finish it expediately.
otto, dont let this linger any longer. mailman came and went today without your knives....if you can do private messages to members, then how about sending one here...
not as cold as you think and waiting,, chet

Re: looking for mr otto
On May 2, 2011 I sent Otto one of my Schatt Morgan Harness Jacks. I had agreed to sell it to him for $60+$3. shipping. He said he would mail me a check. After a week or so with no payment I called him. He apologized for being disorganized and promised immediate payment. Time passed without receipt of the payment and then I went on a two week trip. It was during that trip that I received an Email from Otto offering me another knife in lieu of payment. I agreed. When I got home there was still no knife. I called him and he said he was moving, had the knife in a box and would get around to as soon as possible. I asked him if he was having mental problems. I thought it was a logical question since I've always counted him a friend and have had many timely transactions with him both buying and selling in the past. He hung up one me.
Just today, two months after I sent him the knife, I sent him this Email:
"Have you seen this thread?
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... =2&t=24300
Woman troubles is NOT an excuse for not paying for or shipping knives. Get youself together and get it done."
Until he establishes himself in his old ways I suggest that if you sell him a knife don't ship till you have the money and if you buy on from him don't pay till you get the knife.
Sorry to have to report this,
Don Franklin

Re: looking for mr otto
I don't entirely know whats going on with Otto...all I know is that He is in the process of moving.
With that being said...I would like to say what I do know about Otto..
..I have traded knives with this Man more than any other member on AAPK.
A couple Months ago I offered him $140 for 2 knives that hadn't sold on the Thursday auction. I was in the Hospital at the time and didn't get out until 3 weeks later. When I got home and checked my mail, which is a lock box, they were no knives to be found. I promptly called Otto and He told me that they were mailed 2 weeks ago ....He then gave me the confirmation number to check. Which I did...and sure enough it showed them delivered.
To make a long story a little less longer...I found out that a different mail carrier..other than mine had scanned the package and said that it had been delivered. Well I found out later that He had done this to 2 packages of mine ...one from ebay the other Otto.
I went to the Post office to confront them and was told that there was nothing that I could do because the packages were not insured!!
Otto pm'd me and asked what was going on ....of course I told him the situation. He told me that He felt partly at fault because He hadn't insured the package. I told him that it wasn't his fault and what was done... was done.
A few days later I received this knife in the mail from Otto!!
I don't know whats going on with Otto right now.......But I do know what kind of Friend He has been to me.

Re: looking for mr otto
I'll echo what JR said, Otto has been rock solid in all the dealings I have had with him. I don't know what's taken place with him recently but I do know he's been straight up in the past when I've dealt with him.

For what its worth...
I have had DOZENS of deals with Otto in the past. This way and that, returns, refunds, exchanges, you name it....... Rock solid is how I would describe my dealings with him too.
There were however , times when I thought he was mental.
I hope he's OK.

You are right, Mark, that was my experience with Otto in the past but: Not paying for or mailing a knife for two months is NOT "Rock Solid". Something is wrong with the guy.

Well...from what I have gathered from other members...He is having problems with his significant other.
If this is the case......I can definitely understand..
because my Wife is my Life!!
.......If He has gotten to the point of moving out....I would probably put EVERYTHING on the back burner as well...MHO!!
