case knife can it be repaired?

hi there i have had this old case knife for a long time and this is how i got it from my granddad. first does anyone have a similar one and can post some pics . i would love to see how it looked in all its glory. second is it possible to have this repaired, i would love to see it restored. the one blade still snaps like new and is only missing the blade and pin. thanks jeff[img][img][/img][/img]

It looks like it could be fixed.
A Case collector should be along soon & tell you the model number and an approximate age.

I don't know much about Case, but if you can get the parts, I think someone can fix it.
Case may be able to fix it if they still have parts, though no doubt the blades would be of newer make.

thanks luckily or unluckily i live in australia and these are rare here. dont know anyone who could do the work let alone get the parts. will see if anyone knows

Your knife is a 6275 SP "Moose" pattern. Case still makes the pattern and they could install a new master blade in the correct blade steel (CV). I do not know whether the new blade would fit properly as case has changed their tooling on some patterns. It looks like your knife also needs to have the shield repinned - Case could not do that but there are repair people on this forum who likely could.

Your knife appears to be a Case XX USA knife made in the late '60's (this is judging from the shield and the red bone handles, but I suppose it could have been an early '70's knife). You can't tell for sure because the blade that had the mark on it is missing. Here is a little older one (1940's-1964) showing the blade that is missing:

Right again! This is one of the models that the tooling has changed on and new parts won't work on the older models. Specifically, the blades at the tang area and the backsprings are slightly thinner than they used to be and Case won't work on them after a certain age. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly when that tooling change took place, but if you can take micrometer readings of the thickness of the backspring in the area of the missing blade, I might be able to help out. It all depends on the availability of parts. It ALWAYS depends on the availability of parts. Anyway, drop me a pm with the specs and I'll see if I can help.

thanks guys i will get the measurements and will be in touch. i actually thought this was older than 60-70,s because of the pinned shield but what do i know.
