1985 Case 6207

At this point I am a casual "accumulator" of Case pocket knives, so I don't have the knowledge of "collectors" but am trying to learn enough to get the collecting bug. That being said...
I recently aquired a 1985 Mini-Trapper that I am curious about. Neither blade is brightly polished like all other Case's that I've seen. They have a dull "matte" type finish except for the cutting edges which are bright for about 1/16 inch. The main blade is marked CASE XX ***SS** USA Mini-Trapper with the spey blade marked 6207 SP SSP.
Looking closely I can see the fine grinding marks which produce this dull finish. I believe that this was the time period of the "New Grind" blades...is that what I'm seeing? Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
I'm sure this is a common configuration so excuse the ignorance..I've just never seen it before and am curious.

Yes...that appears to be the blade finish that I'm seeing on my knife. Thanks for the reply and the picture.
Can anyone shed some light on these "matte" finished Case knives from the mid-80's?

Since 1965 when Case introduced a broader line of stainless stell knives which had a satin or brushed finish, Case has always (even today) made some of their stainless knives with that finish. It is not the same as "new grind" hopefully someone can post pics of new grind blades.

Per your request Knifeaholic, BTW nice to hear from you. Hi dogwhisperer5, welcome. "New Grind" does not refer to a blade finish. Case decided in 1983 that it would make a blade stronger to grind the shoulder in an arc rather than staight across. This was short lived and was canned around 1985 IIRC. Below is an example.
