"Sodbuster" comparisons

I'm in the process of setting up to do some general handling/working comparisons of various makers' versions of what we generically describe as a "sodbuster." (I didn't want to say "sodbuster" because so many makers have other names, but if I'd said I was comparing Notschlachters you'd have all looked at me funny!)

At this point I'm trying to find all of the current makers, gathering samples of the various knives, and getting the edges all ground the same. So who all currently makes a production version of this knife? So far I'm aware of AG Russell, Boker (actually several versions from different sources), Buck Creek, Case, German Eye, Kissing Crane, Queen, Rough Rider, Schrade Imperial; am I missing anyone?

I believe Bear makes a version.

Yup, Bear & Son makes a couple versions. And while I don't know if they are still being made, I do know versions are still available and that's from Bulldog and Indian Head.

There are also some soddie's available from MooreMaker, I believe these are Queen-built.

Thanks guys! It is beginning to look like this could take a while. The list is now at 16-17 makers/variations:
AG Russell
Bear & Son
Boker (several versions--3? 4?)
Buck Creek
Bulldog (?)
Case (2 steels)
German Eye
Indian Head
Kissing Crane
MooreMaker
Queen
Rough Rider
Schrade Imperial

Right now the plan is to test to failure edges sharpened at the following angles:
20 degrees
20 degrees w/25 degree microbevel
25 degrees
25 degrees w/30 degree microbevel
30 degrees
30 degrees w/35 degree microbevel
35 degrees
I'm not sure I'll go past that point. With just the 16-17 variations noted above, we're getting into the range of 224 knife sharpenings even if I don't repeat any trials! Maybe I should be trying to reduce that list instead of increase it? (If I go that route, Mooremaker is the first one gone--$105 for a sodbuster????)

Yes, for a sodbuster that's insane!

Sooner state knives has/had four versions of the Mooremaker soddie, all under 55 bucks.

The MooreMaker is made by either Queen or Bear. So you don't need to double those.

Um, don't expect results any time soon! I'm still gathering materials/supplies, and working on defining terms and research questions.

My old research design professor would be having a fit if he knew that--but then again, he had a fit when he found out I was carrying what he called "deadly weapons" (Gerber multi-tool and Victorinox Cybertool) in my backpack. Tsk tsk. I don't think he'd understand the point of it all.

I've got a large orange Soddie marked United/Italy that I am guessing is probably made side by side with the Kissing Crane, dunno though?
