Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
Here is a scarce Camillus Cut. Co. Junior Scout Knife .
Only 3 3/8" long and 5/8" wide.
Unfortunately the master blade has been re-shaped, the blade face is still etched "Junior Scout" , also the bail is missing, but these are hard to find so I bought it anyway

Nice find MB.
Maybe it's just the pictures but it does not look to me to have had a bail.

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
Phil,
Yes it had a bail. The seller thought he was clever and filed the pin down, not a perfect job may I add.
He also re-shaped the blade and called it original
I knew what it was before I bought it but still paid the price he was asking because this is only the second one I have seen in the last 20+ years.
The other one I have in my collection, it is rough, very rough
The funny thing about it is the one I had the shield is right side up, this one is upside down. Funny how this happens with these old scouts, I see it all the time

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
At the OKCA show last month I took some pics of Ed Holbrook's display of Scout knives.
It is difficult to get a feel for the size of his collection.
This first pic shows how much area his collection covers, from the corner of the room at the right of the picture to the lady setting by the doors. BTW, the lady is Mrs. Holbrook. The entire display is about 40’ long, maybe a bit more.
A right impressive display!
Here are the pics starting at the right side of the pic and working my way to the left. Items are displayed on the tables and there are displays standing up on the tables as well.
The last pic should be the third from the last.
I had to edit it & couldn't put it back in the right order.
Starting at the right with the axes-

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
I hope the pics are good enough for you to get an idea of what knives he has.
Sorry I couldn’t get better pics, but it is hard to take pics through the glass & I didn’t have a lot of time.
I hope you enjoyed the look at Ed’s collection.

It doesn't make sense now, but at the time it was the easiest & fastest way to take the pics and try to be sure I didn't miss any displays.
I took the pics in a hurry. As I recall my wife needed a bathroom break and I was on my way back to our table when I took the pictures.
I am glad ya'll are enjoying the pics.
It is really eye popping in person.

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
In April, 2001, I set up my Robeson display in Eugene.
Mr. Holbrook had a very nice display set up, but it wasn't any where near that extensive. I think he must have set up an abbreviated display.
I was impressed back then and I'm certainly impressed with that photo array of his collection.
Dennis Ellingson showed me a portion of his collection and it was very impressive as well.
Both Ed Holbrooke and Dennis were very nice to me when we were out there. They are good people.

Ed and Dennis are typical of the caliber of people in the Oregon Knife Collectors Association.
I do hope to meet you and see your collection when you get out here Charlie.
I know you will be right at home.

Re: The All Scout Knives Thread
Bought this one today:an LF&C Official Scout knife in very good condition EXCEPT;the back spring for the master blade and punch is missing.Hopefully I can repair it or farm it out to someone who can.First time I've paid more than a couple dollars for a broken knife(I gave $25 for it)but it was unusual enough in my opinion to warrant it.
Blade seems pretty full(some scratches on the back)and the etch is in good shape;has milled liners(unusual for a scout/utility pattern)and the scales(which I originally thought to be composition)are the darkest brown bone I've ever seen.Enjoy.
