Anyone like trout?

Post by johnny twoshoes »

I sure do, my favorite way to spend a great April morning outdoors, just standing along a fine PA stream.
And who better to share it with then friends, family, and a toothpick.

When I got this knife I had one thing in mind, and that was to get out and enjoy some trout fishing together, it's a great carry and I'm happy to have it by my side.

And the stainless is definitely a plus. ::tu::

8) Great pics guys. ::tu::
Fishing is a great way to connect with friends, family, and especially with knives. ::nod::
There is almost always a need for a knife when fishing, so it makes it nice when you have one you can really trust in. GEC has done a great job on their stainless steel, I have cleaned 10 trout with my toothpick, cut up some cardboard, as well as a few other chores, and the blade is still razor sharp. ::tu::

They are hard to beat. ::nod::

Great pics, great knife, Johnny. ::tu:: I do like trout but, I'm a loyal bass man mostly. :) I couldn't stand it after seeing the Amer Elk thread and I recently popped on a t'pick like yours. Love, love it, though it was not near as sharp as my one other GEC in SS. ::shrug:: It will, however take the stems off strawberries like nobody's business.

Hey Bass, I would love to see a pic of your toothpick. 8)
After carrying mine a while the colors have really changed a bit, from a nice dark burnt, to a mellow cream, now after cleaning some trout it's a got a darker hue to it. 8)

Great pics, and I like the fishing related thread.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to do some trolling for spring Coho if the weather permits. I carry a Texas jack for bleeding fish, mostly walleye just before they hit the ice or live well. :)

Another great pic Bass, beautiful knife, really looks like some great character on those scales. ::tu::
Do you pack this one in the pocket? ::sneaky::

One of GEC's best patterns, I think even my Fave. ::tu::

I've carried it a few times and would have today, but I was wearing shorts and prefer a smaller knife for those occasions. It's my second GEC t'pick and I really like the pattern.

Even tho the general opener isn't until next week, there are a couple of local lakes that are open year-round. And that makes me a happy boy! ::woot::

Thanks fellers! I gotta confess though; I didn't catch 'em on the fly rod, I caught 'em trolling a tiny plug. Numbers 2 and 3 from the left were apparantly holdovers and the others freshly planted. 2 and 3 were full of teeny tiny olive green midge larva, about a size nano hook if you could tie a fly that small! & they were real pink meated. ::shrug::  Trout dinner tonight!! Smoked trout tomorrow! ::super_happy::
