Traditionally on a bail ?

I was wondering what folk strapped onto the bails years ago , i usualy go with a paracord type affair but rigged this one up for the ulster when in my back pocket, what do you guys use, pics would be great

This is what they used in the old days.

The large loop slipped over a button.

This is the one I have with the chain attached to the bail. I think that it is probably original to the knife. United Cutlery Co. Germany.

thats cool mark and yes like the imperial that mike sent me and another favourite edc for me, i think ill change my chain to one lengh and make it a bit mor simple, cheers guys

Good thread Paul. I've never seen one of the chains with the button loop attachment, or if I did I didn't realize what they were. I figured the bail clipped onto a clasp worn on the belt. I've never used the bail on mine.

Quite often you would find a pocket-watch on the other end. At least that's how I remember seeing my Grandfather's when I was a youngster. If it didn't use some sort of counterweight that want in the front pocket, then it needed to be hooked to a button. Just the fact that I know any of this is an admission that I'm older than dirt. Where's my prozac?

Here's a LF&C with the button hook chain that appears to be original to the knife
(at least period correct, if the knife wasn't sold with the chain).
