Kershaw Onion

Has anyone out there taken apart a Kershaw Onion? I need to take one apart and put it back together--anything to watch ouot for.any tricks of the trade. Or, just advice. thanks.

I am not sure which of Ken Onion's designs you are referring to, but I believe all of his designs made by Kershaw are assisted opening.

I don’t mess with them. If I have a problem with one I take it to Kershaw and they replace it. Aside from adjusting the action, I just use them and don’t try to take them apart. The only reason I even try to adjust the action is that the Kershaw plant manager showed me how to adjust them.

If I take it apart that will likely void the warranty.
Why do that when Kershaw will replace the knife?

It's a long story, but here goes. I was going to engrave one for my friend--when I got it home, I found out that it was next to impossible to engrave (why do they harden the handles?). So, the next best thing to do would be to take it apart, solder a geman silver plate on the handle, then engrave that. Maybe I will just stick to Spydies--they engrave nicely. thanks for the input, sounds like I need to stay away from taking it apart--that's what I needed to know.

According to the guy I talked to at Kershaw, the torsion bars have a lot of torque. I guess one is always under load. He said, "There is a lot going on there in a very small space." I decided right then I was going to stay away from them until I know more about how they operate, or find a junker to play with.
