Challenge Cuttlery

What do you think of this Challenge Cutlery Muskrat? The little half circle stamp is on the back of both blades. Both the front of the blades are stamped "CHALLENGE/CUT. CO./BRIDGEPORT/CONN". I think Challenge went out of business in 1928. The knife is not, in my opinion nowhere near that old. Did someone pick up the brand?

I think its real. Challenge was one of the early producers of stainless knives, I have seen their stainless muskrat like that one before, and it looks right to me.

looks good. i had just bought one with a light etch stainless. they where made from 1916 to 1928 i think.

Thanks Wullie. Have you ever seen that little half circle stamp on the off blade? The one you posted looks like something was removed from the tang in one of your pictures. Could it have been that symbol?

The mark on that abortion I bought and returned was what was left of an "R" after the blades got sanded down I think.

Yes I have seen it and believe it to be correct for the knives. Not many that I've seen of them have it. I think I may have one somewhere in my Challenge pile.

I love Challenge knives but I've about quit buying them nowadays. They sold for p-nuts until about a year ago. Maybe I should think about selling.

Yes, see it all the time.

It is a horseshoe stamp that is only used on knives with Stainless Steel blades.

I thought so too, but it isn't used on my stainless scout.
