NCCA Show

I hope all of you folks on the east coast are getting ready for the annual NCCA 2 day show that is coming up at the end of the month. The show is in Mystic Conn and is a great show. Lots of great knives for sale and the displays are fantastic. There is a man there that sets up a display antique of automatics that will blow your socks off!!!

Some of us bring knives to show and tell and many of them are really rare. One of the best things is the live auction on Sat night. I have sold knives at the auction and also bought a few that I still have in my collection. It's a great time for sure. I hope to see some of our members their so if you are going let me know so we can say hello and chat awhile.

I am from New Hampshire and hope to be able to make it. This is my first big show as I am new to the collection aspect of knife ownership. Have a number of fixed blades and folders but all are users and have not considered collecting much until I found this site.

I think the last NCCA show I attended was in 1992 just before I moved to Michigan.Always a great show with some great people(knifemakers and collectors)in attendance.Always enjoyed talking to Jim and Cindy Taylor.Have a couple of customs from New England knifemakers(Jason Williams,Jim Turecek,Tom McLuin,and Bill Zaleski).J.D.Smith was alwys good to chat with(wished I could afford one of his knives).
Don't know the guy's name but there was an older gentleman who used to set up there that made working miniature firearms.Had a 1/3rd scale Winchester Model 1873 and a Colt Peacemaker that was just exquisite.
Wish I could make it out but I'm not too much on traveling anymore.

I didn't know there was a thread for the show. I posted the two knives I bought on "knife finds of the day".
I didn't meet anyone from AAPK. I sure wish I could have. I think that would have been nice.

Sorry that I missed you Joe!! Here are a few that I picked up at the show. I sold a bunch and had a great time seeing old friends that I know in the club.

The little pearl knife is unmarked but really neat. You have to use a tool to open it. You slide the tool into a groove in the blade and using leverage open up the blade. It works on both blades. Look at the picture of the spring and you will see the openings in it so that the tool will be able to get the blade open.

Second knife is from P.N. Co. and is a gravity knife. there were different blades for it but I only have the screwdriver blade.

The last knife is a Balisong and seems old to me.

Overall a great show except that there were no real Italian autos to buy which I was hoping for.
