Women's Gold Vintage Pocket Knife

Last year, I received a bag of my late great grandmother's jewelry and a thin, gold pocket knife was found within the bag. I admired the artwork and style of the knife so it became one of my most prized possessions. However, I don't really know anything about the knife or how it came to be my great grandmother's. I do know that it was made in Solingen, Germany from the inscription on the knife blade. I was wondering if someone could tell me who "D. Peres" was since I am unable to find any history on anyone by that name. Also, I would be interested in knowing the time period in which this knife was made. One blade is a small blade and the other is a nail file. The nail file blade is a bit rusted and has a beer keg on the base of the blade. The knife blade has "D. PERES SOLINGEN" on one side and "ROST FREI". I have no idea what ROST FREI is.

Rost Frei means stainless steel.

Agreed;a beautiful little knife! That type of scale I have always known as,"Toledo Scales" which refers to the type of decoration on knives made in Toledo Spain.You see that a lot on Scandanavian knives as well.If they are indeed gold,there should be a mark on either the scale itself or possibly the bail.Most likely it is what in the jewelry trade is known as,"base metal".Not sure of the exact alloy but there is no precious metal in it.No matter it is still a beautiful piece.

Very nice. With stainless blades and general impression of the pattern, I estimate it to be from the inter-war period... mid 1920s to late 1930s.
