Hello Folks,
I came across this Booth Bros.? Knife on ebay. The seller has it advertised as such but there are no tang stampings on the knife to confirm its authenticity. He indicates he has seen one like this as a booth Brothers. I own (2) Booth brothers from both the Newark, and sussex periods and both have clear stampings. I am aware that one does not read the tang stamp alone, but the knife as well. The knife is definately vintage and appears to be very nice. I am not bidding on this item but if one of you folks really loved Booth knives how would you feel?

Re: Booth brothers Knife?
I always say read the tang stamp last, but without that last bit of information this cannot be officially named an original Booth in my opinion. I have owned several of this companies high quality knives. The only way I could be convinced otherwise would be to be shown a catalog pic and discription of that exact knife and to closely look at this particular one to see if indeed everything matches, but a company of this quality to NOT have it stamped clearly is odd to me. I have had some that were pretty rough, but the stamp was still clear. This one looks used but not overly abused, therefore the stamp should still be there in my opinion.
I have a Mason and Sons that looks identical. It is an old knife for sure, but from who??? that is still the question.

Re: Booth brothers Knife?
Thanks David,
I was hoping you would see this post and respond. I can't afford Booth Bros. The (2) I do have I was lucky enough to snag outside an auction. I emailed the seller and his reply was that this is how he bought the knife being told it was a Booth Brothers. He also said he was an honest man. and on,on. Still personally I have to believe its not correct to advertise a knife of this rarity and $ without some kind of authenticity. Its just not right
Perhaps by saying it may be a Booth brothers produced knife, but that seems a stretch as well. If someone is that confident about the knife that would be fine. I just do not like seeing newbies getting burned when they really think they may be buying something else. Its happened to many of us at some point I bet.
All in all a nice knife though IMO.
Thanks, Alan
