Anyone know some history of this knife?

Hi fellows,
I am relatively knew to the hobby and I picked this litlle knife up last week. It says Hoffritter germany on the tang stamp. I think it might be a hailf whittler, not sure. I believe it to be genuine stag and it also has hand forgged on the blade. Any links or history on this knife would be great.

Could it be HOFFRITZ? They are/were an importer of German knives. Located in NY.

You are correct. It is hoffritz, I apologize.
Might you be able to date it, and did another knife company distribute these knives?

Hoffritz was an importer of knives made by such German factories as Olbertz, Schlieper, and Klass (maybe others). Some may have been made by Schrade here in the U.S.A. They then had their name stamped on the knives and distributed in their cutlery stores. Some/most?? of these were known as Cutlery World, which was eventually purchased by Jim Parker and subsequently forced into bankruptcy.

Their knives were nice, but common, and heavily imported in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Your knife could be older, but I don't know. There is no real "Dating" system that I know of.
They don't really hold much collector value unfortunately, according to most pricing guides.

It looks to be in good shape and it is a nice little (Sleeveboard Pen pattern?) knife...

Thanks for the info. If the knife could only talk. I really like the little thing. The other side of the knife is much nicer.I got it out of a cigar box at the York, Pa. gun show for next to nothing. to me it is worth more than its actuall value.
