S & J Kitchin Sheffield Machete ... Military?

Curious about any info anyone may have about this machete. It says on it S & J Kitchin Sheffield No 2640. 1952 Not sure of the origin or what such a knife was used for? is there any significane the words on the case? any value?.... thanks

Looks very similar to the example in Flooks Military Knives book. Is there a broad arrow /l\ along with the year. That would indicate made for military issue s-k

yes it has an arrow symbol right above the 1952

Given the date, possibly GI for deployment in Korea. The sheath looks original with embellishment by the owner. Must have a great story attached. Overall, nice example. s-k
